Overview

A parathyroid scan is a nuclear medicine scan used to identify overactive parathyroid glands, most commonly in cases of hyperparathyroidism. It helps surgeons locate abnormal parathyroid tissue before surgery and typically involves two imaging sessions, sometimes combined with CT for precise localization.
